Child custody is determined by the "Best Interest of the Child". Best Interest of the Child is a legal term that requires the judge, should the need arise, to evaluate twelve factors codified in Louisiana Civil Code Article 134. The judge has the discretion to determine the weight of each factor in determining child custody. Most courts will try to give equal time to each parent. If a judge makes the the custody decision, it is very difficult to change the custody ruling. Most client's prefer a consent agreement between both pareants. This provides flexibility should the need arise to change the custody agreeement. Attorney Dominick Latino will draft your desired custody arrangement. Of course, if an agreement cannot be found, then he will go to court and zelously represent you. Call Dominick anytime at 985-327-4799.
In general (there are exceptions) child support works in a very formulatic way taking into account the basic child support amounts required by law, the child's additonal needs and the amount of income attributed to both spouses. This of course is an oversimplication and attorney Dominick Latino can help you prepare the proper amount of child support needed and in the right percentages attributed to each parent. Do not leave your child's money on the table. Call Dominick anytime at 985-327-4799.
